Finally...a Television!

After nearly a year of watching movies on the computer or the portable DVD player, we finally have a real television at the cabin! It's wall-mounted and swivels - plus the kids can watch from the loft. The best part: it's got a built-in DVD player in the back, so no unsightly cords and stuff. (If you look really closely, you'll see the electrical cord. Good luck!) We still don't have cable, but one of our favorite things to do is to walk to Safeway and pick movies at the Blockbuster Express box. We also watch the kids' favorites from when they were little. It has been a nice addition to our little get-away.
Finally...a Woodstove!

Who knew that installation would cost so much more than the actual stove? Given the tiny dimensions of the cabin, I knew I'd need a very small stove - but those darling enamel stoves by Vermont Castings were WAY out of my budget. I found the perfect little stove on the Home Depot website - and it wasn't terribly expensive! It was delivered to our Folsom house and Dad and David somehow wrestled it up to the cabin. Don Lance installed it for me. (Extensive research tells me that I got a fair price - but installation still cost about 1.5 times what the stove itself cost. Ouch!) It was totally worth it, though - our little stove cranks! And what was once a chilly corner of the cabin is now very warm and cozy. And while the kids watch movies, I sit and watch the fire! I love it!
