The Remodel

Finally making some progress!
After the dry-out was complete, All-Sierra Construction replaced the kitchen window, re-insulated and added a vapor barrier to the kitchen, and did the subfloor. I'm very hopeful that the kitchen corner will be a lot cozier; we used to be able to feel the wind blowing through the battens, and the metal frame of the old window was always icy cold!
After getting an ALARMING quote for stock, paint-grade cabinetry and formica countertops, I thought I'd do it myself and go the IKEA route. I asked Shawn of KB Kitchen & Bath if he'd help me assemble and install the cabinets and do all the plumbing, etc. He was able to beat IKEA's cabinetry price - and he agreed to do all the work! Woohoo! (Shawn did a great job on my granite countertops a few years back.)
I got the farmhouse sink, faucet, and butcher block countertops at IKEA - and so far, I'm thrilled with how everything is turning out!
I need to choose the flooring, and I imagine the counter tops will darken a bit when I oil them. But I'm very hopeful and excited about our little cabin kitchen!
